Ellen Goddard - Lynch

Hi there, I'm Ellen. I am a mother and founder of this daycare. I was born in Chelsea, UK and lived in Yorkshire until the age of 11 years old. My family and I moved to Barbados and I was placed in St. Winifred's School. I grew up with two younger brothers and being the eldest was always left in charge of them. I found myself always taking care of kids, even from a young teenager. I have a daughter and I enjoyed watching her grow into an amazing young lady. I enjoy travelling to different places around the world and broadening my horizon, learning new cultures and experiencing new things. I studied Early Childhood Education at Erdiston College and also did a basic sign language course to teach basic sign language to children.  My passion for working in this field was clear when I was employed by Wills Primary School. I got to know all of the children and they felt comfortable coming to me (Aunty Ellen) for advice or anything they felt  they needed. With a partner we opened a preschool called Beginners Haven in 2013,  as the preschool got bigger, I felt that it was time for me to start my own daycare with my daughter Zoe in the comfort of our own home and "Home away from Home" was realized.

Zoe Lynch

Hey! I'm Zoe. I am the co-founder of Home away from Home Daycare. I've always loved working with little children. I used to say it was because I was an only child growing up so I loved the thought of a little sister or brother. I grew up on this beautiful island of Barbados and was raised and supported by my family and friends throughout my life. I went to St. Winifred's School at the age of 12, then I was employed at Wills Primary for a year after I graduated. During my time at Wills, I then realized what my deep passion was. It was hard to say goodbye but the memories continue to live on. I then flew to Canada and studied in the Child and Youth Worker Program for three years. Throughout those years I was able to experience working in public elementary schools, childcare services and group homes. The experience was incredible and I learned so much within those three years. When I graduated and returned home to Barbados, I then worked with my mom at the preschool she had opened. I was able to then further my experience using the qualifications I had and I was glad to be able to make impacts in these children's lives.Throughout those years I worked with many families, some who came to visit and others who lived here full time. I worked at a few camps here and there and had an amazing opportunity working for a Russian family and was able to take care of their youngest child full time. Eventually, my mother and I embarked upon this amazing journey and we decided to do something together, which brought us to our current dream, a home daycare.
